The District currently has one (1) vacancy, 4.5 hours per day, 10 months per school year at Royal Oak Middle School. The eligibility list being established will be used to fill the current vacancy, hire substitutes, and fill future vacancies that may occur within one year. The examination process consists of supplemental questions within the application, a job-related written examination, and a qualification appraisal interview, followed by a selection interview for candidates in the top three ranks.
BASIC POSITION
INFORMATIONUnder the direction of an assigned supervisor, or designee, performs a variety of general clerical duties in support of an assigned school, department, or program; performs specific routines within broadly defined policies and procedures.
DISTINGUISHING
CHARACTERISTICSAdequate performance in the classification of Office Assistant II requires knowledge of school and departmental procedures and policies and the ability to use independent judgment in the interpretation and application of broadly defined policies and procedures.

The classification of Office Assistant II is distinguished from the lower classification of Office Assistant I by the assignment of a wide variety of general clerical duties which are expected to be performed with a great deal of independence. Incumbents in the classification of Office Assistant I are assigned routine and repetitive clerical duties and generally work under close supervision. Duties can usually be performed with brief instruction and require minimal previous clerical experience.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
The classification specification does not describe all duties performed by the incumbent in the class. This summary provides examples of typical tasks performed in this classification.

Prepare and type letters, memoranda, bulletins, reports, schedules, lists, handbooks, questionnaires, requisitions or other materials from straight copy, rough draft, or verbal instructions. EPerforms general and routine clerical duties including record-keeping requiring skill, accuracy, and discretion. ECompile information from various sources and type a variety of forms. EType and perform other clerical duties for the assigned supervisor, classroom teachers, and other staff members as directed. EProof documents for accuracy, completeness, and conformance to established procedures. ECompile, tabulate and type statistical data. EPrepare, process, and enter data concerning course offerings, class schedules, student programs, records, and grade reports into the computer system. EDevelop and maintain a variety of computer and manual files and records. EAnswer telephone, greet students, parents, and the public and provide routine information and direct inquiries to the appropriate person or office; make phone calls to request or provide information as directed. EOperate a variety of office machines including a computer, typewriter, calculator, copier, or fax machine as assigned. ESubstitute for or relieve other office personnel; arrange for repairs or service; receive, count and issue monies; train and assign work to other clerical workers and student aides; schedule and/or coordinate meetings, conferences, travel, and appointments.

Perform clerical arrangements for home-to-school special education students, athletic and field trip transportation; administer minor first aid.

Receive sort and distribute incoming and outgoing mail as assigned.

Perform related duties as assigned.
