  • Part-time Job Overview We are looking for a warm, reliable Peer Mentor to support a 19‑year‑old young adult with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).
This role involves working closely with the client to provide consistent companionship, engagement, and support in her home and community. The ideal candidate is patient, flexible, and comfortable accommodating unique communication and sensory needs while bringing a positive, music
  • and art-loving energy to the day.
This is a paid position, and the selected candidate will be required to complete direct-hire onboarding through the Fiscal Management Service (FMS). Knowledge of California's Self‑Determination Program (SDP) is a plus. Duties Provide patient, attentive 1‑on‑1 support to a 19‑year‑old young adult with ASD Engage client in her favorite activities, such as shopping, taking her to art classes, exploring different food spots, and listening to music Patiently bridge client's unique language and communication limitations to ensure her preferences are always understood Support health and wellness by working out or helping client engage in light exercise routines Provide transit support by driving client to community activities and assisting her with calling rideshare services when needed Actively monitor environments for sensory overstimulation, ensuring client has her headphones and self-soothing fidget tools accessible Anticipate attending local art programs with client to serve as a 1‑on‑1 aide, facilitating her creative expression and peer interaction Maintain a gentle, non-aggressive, and accommodating presence that makes client feel completely safe and supported Experience Prior experience or training working with neurodivergent individuals (adults or children with special needs) is required Extreme patience and the ability to work comfortably with a gentle, collaborative approach (no pushy or aggressive personalities) Strong communication skills and willingness to go with the flow and adapt to client's pacing A positive, supportive mindset with an appreciation for music and the arts Must possess a valid Driver's License, a reliable vehicle, and active car insurance
Required:
Willingness to complete the FMS direct-hire onboarding process, including a criminal background check/fingerprinting clearance

Familiarity with the Self‑Determination Program (SDP)
