A warm family in Portola Valley is seeking a compassionate, dependable, and thoughtful Care Companion / Family Assistant to provide light part-time household and personal support. The care recipient is independent and primarily looking for someone who can provide additional support and companionship to make everyday life more comfortable and manageable. This is not an intensive elder care position. The ideal candidate will be someone who enjoys building a genuine connection, providing friendly companionship, and helping with practical day-to-day tasks around the home. The role will focus on maintaining the household between housekeeper visits, preparing meals, assisting with laundry and light organization, helping with errands and appointments as needed, and providing companionship and support throughout the day. The family is looking for someone who is proactive, attentive, respectful of independence, and comfortable stepping in to help where needed while maintaining a warm and professional presence. Family vehicle available for transportation during working hours Key Responsibilities Provide companionship, conversation, and social engagement Assist with general day-to-day needs and activities Prepare simple meals and assist with grocery shopping Handle laundry and light household upkeep Help maintain and organize the home between housekeeper visits Assist with errands and appointments as needed Provide transportation using the family vehicle when needed Assist with appointment reminders and general scheduling Provide occasional personal assistance as needed Help with basic technology and other everyday tasks Encourage independence while providing thoughtful support

Maintain clear and consistent communication with the family Qualifications Minimum 2-3 years of professional caregiving, companion care, family assistant, or similar experience preferred Warm, compassionate, and personable Reliable, punctual, and professional Comfortable working independently Strong communication skills Comfortable providing companionship and light personal support Able to assist with household organization and day-to-day tasks Comfortable driving the family vehicle Valid driver's license and clean driving record CPR & First Aid certification preferred
