DEFINITION
Under supervision, to perform a variety of clerical work of moderate difficulty; to operate a typewriter and/or computer at a skilled level; to have a high level of public contact when assigned to a school office; and to perform related work as required.CLASS CHARACTERISTICS
Positions assigned to this class are at a moderate level of performance in the administrative support series. Some positions in this class are designated as requiring an employee who is certified as bilingual and/or biliterate in one or more designated languages, in addition to English. Positions in the class of Senior Office Assistant are distinguished by a greater independence of action and by the maintenance of more difficult program and monetary records. Any combination of training, education and experience which demonstrates possession of the knowledges and abilities stated above, and the ability to perform the duties of the position. A typical qualifying entrance background is one year of clerical work and completion of high school. Course work or training in basic office automation practices and word processing is desirable.Requirements / Qualifications
REQUIREMENTS
- Must submit a typing certificate for 45 wpm on a 5-minute timed test from an accredited agency with application. Online or internet testing will not be accepted. Typing test certificate must be attached to the application.
- Must pass the Written Test for Office Assistant.
- Must have a minimum of one year of clerical work experience.
- Completion of High School or G.
Desirable:
Bilingual in English and Spanish, Cantonese, Mandarin, or Vietnamese.TESTING INFORMATION
