Temp-to-Hire Administrative Assistant $60K - $70K A highly respected San Francisco-based public policy and research institute is seeking a polished, proactive, and detail-oriented Administrative Assistant to support its influential research and policy leadership team. This is an exciting opportunity to join a mission-driven organization dedicated to strengthening California's communities and economy. In this highly visible role, you'll work closely with senior leadership, policy directors, and their collaborative team, serving as a key operational partner supporting impactful statewide initiatives. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment and enjoys balancing administrative coordination, event planning, outreach tracking, and project support. You'll interact regularly with policymakers, funders, media contacts, researchers, and internal stakeholders while helping ensure the smooth execution of center operations and special initiatives. Key Responsibilities- Provide comprehensive administrative support to leadership, including scheduling meetings, travel coordination, expense reporting, outreach tracking, and responding to inquiries from funders, policymakers, media, staff, and external stakeholders
- Managing contact databases and distribution lists, processing contracts, invoices, expenses, travel requests, and timesheets, while helping oversee team workplans and research project workflows
- Plan and execute public events, workshops, internal meetings, and on-site gatherings in both San Francisco and Sacramento, ensuring seamless logistics and collaboration across teams and stakeholders
- Assist with research operations and project coordination by supporting outreach analysis, research initiatives, project management activities, and additional administrative projects in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment Qualifications
- 2+ years of administrative experience supporting senior leadership
- Experience in research, policy, nonprofit, academic, or mission-driven organizations preferred
- Excellent organizational, communication, and relationship-building skills
- Strong writing skills and exceptional attention to detail
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
