Job Description

The City of South Lake Tahoe is seeking a detail-oriented Temporary Administrative Assistant to support the City Clerk's Office. This short-term assignment is anticipated to run for approximately three months, from mid-October through mid-January, at 32 hours per week. Under general supervision, the Temporary Administrative Assistant will provide administrative and clerical support to help ensure timely, accurate, and organized City Clerk operations. This position will remain open until filled.
Responsibilities may include:
Assisting with records audits, organization, and retention-related activities Supporting agenda packet production for City Council and Commission meetings Assisting with preparation, formatting, and review of meeting minutes Routing documents for review, approval, and distribution Performing basic electronic and physical filing Maintaining accurate records and tracking documents Providing courteous, professional customer service to members of the public, City staff, elected officials, and other stakeholders Responding to routine inquiries in person, by telephone, and by email; directing more complex questions to appropriate staff Providing general administrative support and completing other assignments as needed Ideal candidates will demonstrate: Strong computer literacy, including proficiency with Microsoft Office applications such as Word, Excel, Outlook, and Teams Excellent attention to detail and ability to produce accurate work Strong written and verbal communication skills, including professional telephone and email etiquette Ability to provide responsive, respectful, and professional customer service to the public Strong proofreading, organizational, and records-management skills Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with discretion Ability to prioritize assignments, meet deadlines, and manage multiple tasks Ability to follow established procedures and work independently with limited supervision Experience providing administrative, clerical, records, public-facing, or meeting-support services is preferred High school diploma or equivalent required; additional administrative experience or education is desirable
