Ventura Housing is looking for a bilingual Administrative Assistant to join our Section 8/Housing Choice Voucher team! In this highly visible and important role, you will often be one of the first people our clients and community members meet when they contact Ventura Housing. You will help create a welcoming, professional environment while providing essential administrative support to our Housing Choice Voucher Department. No two days will be exactly the same. You may greet and assist clients, answer and route calls, help applicants understand documents and program information, process applications and correspondence, prepare mailings and recertification packets, maintain records, track important deadlines, and assist Housing Specialists with a variety of program-related responsibilities. This position is a great fit for someone who is organized, dependable, compassionate, and comfortable working in a busy customer-service environment. You'll interact with people from many different backgrounds and have opportunities to use your problem-solving skills, good judgment, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple priorities. Because many of the individuals we serve are Spanish-speaking, the ability to communicate, read, and write effectively in both English and Spanish is required. What We're Looking For A high school diploma or equivalent. At least two years of experience in a clerical, cashiering, Administrative Assistant, or similar general office position involving significant public contact. Strong customer-service, organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills. The ability to remain professional and compassionate when assisting clients, including during challenging interactions. Experience in affordable housing or a social services environment is a plus, but not required.
