Pathology Lab/Clerical Assistant

Oculus Pathology (OCULUS) has an immediate full-time position for a Pathology Laboratory/Clerical Assistant.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION

The Pathology Laboratory/Clerical Assistant aids the Pathologists and Pathologists' Assistants of OCULUS with both technical (tissue-related) and non-technical duties in the context of slide management and preanalytical quality assurance. This individual provides additional support to other OCULUS departments as needed.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES

Accessioning and labeling of surgical pathology and clinical pathology slides. Maintaining and ordering necessary supplies. Conference coordinator at OCULUS-affiliated hospitals, as assigned. Assist with collection and subsequent organization of all pertinent clinical information, associated glass slides, and other materials necessary to the case presentation. Undertake basic administrative duties which may include but are not limited to filing, data entry, and answering the phone. Keep work area in a safe, aseptic, and organized manner. Utilizes job knowledge, judgment, and problem-solving skills to ensure quality services. Billing office duties as assigned. Miscellaneous duties in support of OCULUS as assigned.

WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT

No experience is required. Experience in an anatomic laboratory is preferred. Ability to communicate effectively with physicians, staff, and management. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. A critical thinker with strong attention to detail. General familiarity with using computers and applications is a plus.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
