The time and leave clerk maintains and applies current regulations according to VA and Bay Pines VA Healthcare System (BPVAHCS) policies, including staffing and scheduling policies related to time and leave. He/she maintains computerized Time and Leave (T&L) for approximately 300 employees. The incumbent utilizes applicable directives, regulations, policies, standard operating procedures, and BPVAHCS memoranda to ensure proper timekeeping techniques.

Specialized Experience:
You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-04 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: Prepares, maintains, reviews, and certifies time and monitors and reports for a variety of pay plans, types of leaves and special pay situations Forwards all reports to the appropriate office for processing Determine appropriateness of hours being charged and types of special pay being authorized Performs a wide range of non-routine related clerical support for the assigned program areas and administrative functions and transactions in support of payroll and accounting staff Monitors, evaluates and initiates corrective action on all facility organizational surveys, obtains, organizes, files and retrieves reports, correspondence and numerical data for use in preparing status reports ensuring accuracy, formatting and timeliness.

Proficiency Requirement :
Must confirm to be able to type 40 words per minute to be found eligible for the position along with the specialized experience. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religions; spiritual; community; student; social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
Note :
A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Applicants wishing to receive credit for such experience must indicate clearly the nature of their duties and responsibilities in each position and the number of hours a week spent in such employment.
Physical Requirements:
Though most of the work is sedentary, the incumbent must be able to walk, stand, bend, climb, reach, and lift/carry boxes of records, files, papers, and supplies. Proper body mechanics must be utilized during office activities.
