Job Description
Administrative Support Specialist Conklin Metal Industries - Atlanta North Branch 6875 Best Friend Rd, Ste 100, Doraville, GA 30340 On-Site | Monday-Friday, 7:00 AM-4:00/4:30 PM | $24-$28/hour, based on experience About Conklin Metal Industries Some companies chase trends. We've spent over 152 years building something steadier: a business our customers trust and our people stay at for the long haul. Founded in 1874 and still family owned and operated today in our fourth generation, Conklin Metal Industries is a leading distributor of sheet metal, HVAC, duct fabrication, and mechanical pipe insulation supplies across the Southeast. From our 17 branch locations, we supply sheet metal contractors, mechanical contractors, duct fabricators, residential and multi-family new construction contractors, and HVAC service and replacement contractors with everything they need to build and install a commercial or residential duct system, and we stock the widest selection of sheet metal forming machinery in the region. Behind that longevity is a simple formula: hire good people, treat them well, and let them build a career here. About the Role Our Atlanta North branch is growing, and we're looking for an Administrative Support Specialist who wants to grow with it. This isn't a role where you'll do the same five things on repeat every day. You'll be the organizational backbone of the branch: the person the Branch Manager, the Warehouse Manager, and the Shipping Manager can hand something to and trust it'll get done right, on time, and without having to check in twice. One day you might be reconciling expense reports or processing a purchase order. The next, you're coordinating a vendor repair on a piece of fleet equipment, helping an associate through open enrollment, or pulling together the details for a branch event. It's real variety, but it all runs through the same throughline: precision, follow-through, and being someone people can count on. If you're the kind of person who keeps a tidy inbox, double-checks your own work before anyone asks you to, and genuinely likes being the dependable center of a busy operation, this role was built for you. And because the branch is still growing, this job is not static. It will evolve, and so will your responsibilities, which means there's real room here to expand what you own over time. What You'll Do Purchasing & Replenishment Manage branch-managed replenishment and purchase orders, keeping the branch stocked and operations running without interruption Support inventory tracking and purchasing of branch supplies Expense Reconciliation & Reporting Reconcile and report branch expenses accurately and on schedule, giving branch leadership a clear, trustworthy view of the numbers Administrative & Clerical Support Serve as a first point of contact for administrative inquiries by email and other channels on behalf of the branch Maintain organized digital and paper filing systems, including structuring electronic data storage (e.g., Teams folders), so information is easy to find when it's needed Carry out directives from the Branch Manager and provide administrative support to the Warehouse and Shipping Managers HR & Onboarding Support Guide associates through HR-related functions such as annual enrollment and training with patience and clarity Support onboarding and training initiatives for new branch employees, helping them feel set up for success from day one Event Planning & Execution Plan and execute branch events, handling the logistics so the team can just show up and enjoy them Vendor Coordination Own vendor communications for service and repairs, including building, machinery, fleet, and trailers, keeping projects moving and relationships strong Sales & Order Support (Limited) Provide basic backup sales support as needed; this is a limited part of the role rather than a primary responsibility Assist with PO/SO returns on a limited basis as branch processes evolve (note: PO/TO receipting is not part of this role) What We're Looking For We're looking for someone who brings genuine steadiness to a role with a lot of moving parts, someone organized enough to keep a dozen threads straight, patient enough to walk an associate through a benefits question without rushing them, and personable enough to build real relationships with vendors and coworkers alike. You don't need to be the loudest person in the room. You need to be the one people go to because they know it'll get handled. P21 experience strongly preferred Replenishment/purchasing experience Strong clerical and data entry background Experience with expense reconciliation and reporting Experience assisting with HR-related functions (annual enrollment, training, etc.) preferred Strong organizational and time management skills, including digital and paper file maintenance Experience with event planning and execution Excellent written and verbal communication skills Adaptable and resourceful, with the ability to quickly learn new systems and processes with minimal direction A strong personality and culture fit, someone who builds real relationships across the branch team Requirements High school diploma or GED (higher education a plus) Previous experience in an administrative role, preferably in manufacturing or industrial distribution Computer proficiency and genuine comfort using technology are required for this role, including ERP/MRP software (P21 preferred) and Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint Why You'll Love Working Here A stable, family-owned company in its fourth generation, with 150+ years of history and no signs of slowing down A branch that's actively growing, with room for this role, and you, to grow along with it A close-knit team where your contributions are visible and valued, not lost in a big-company shuffle
