[From $15.00 per hour] Position Overview Shearer Legal Defense Firm, LLC, a criminal-defense practice serving clients throughout the Atlanta metropolitan area, is seeking a dependable, organized, and professional Administrative Assistant. The ideal candidate will be attentive to detail, comfortable interacting with clients who may be experiencing stressful circumstances, and capable of managing multiple responsibilities in a busy legal environment. This position requires discretion, sound judgment, excellent communication skills, and consistent follow-through. Responsibilities Communicate professionally and compassionately with clients, courts, attorneys, and other agencies Schedule appointments and meetings Maintain the attorney's calendar, monitor court conflicts, and provide reminders of important dates and deadlines Organize and maintain electronic and physical files Scan, upload, download, label, and distribute documents Enter and update information in the firm's case-management system Prepare routine correspondence, notices, and administrative forms Monitor email and promptly identify time-sensitive communications Assist with obtaining records and case-related documents Perform general office duties, including copying, mailing, filing, and ordering supplies Protect confidential and sensitive client information Provide other administrative support as needed Qualifications High School Diploma or G.E.D. required Prior administrative or office experience preferred, but not required Excellent organizational and time-management skills Strong written and verbal communication skills High level of accuracy and attention to detail Professional and courteous telephone manner Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines with limited supervision Ability to exercise discretion and maintain strict confidentiality Familiarity with Microsoft Office, email, calendars, and cloud-based document systems Reliable attendance and punctuality Ability to remain calm, respectful, and solution-oriented in a fast-paced environment Experience working in a law office, criminal-defense practice, court system, or other professional-services environment is preferred but not required. Familiarity with MyCase or another legal case-management platform is a plus. Ideal Candidate The successful candidate will be proactive, dependable, and willing to take ownership of assigned responsibilities. This position is best suited for someone who follows instructions carefully, double-checks their work, communicates when clarification is needed, and understands that every administrative task can affect a client's case.
