5.20 Building-Level Secretary (9 month) Position Summary The position of Building-Level Secretary is to efficiently and effectively perform office and clerical duties in support of daily school operations and activities including providing assistance to students, staff, parents, visitors, explaining policies and procedures, providing general information related to policies and procedures, ensuring safety and security of students and staff. A building secretary will work under the supervision of building administration.

D Minimum Qualifications High school diploma or GED; Bachelor's degree, preferred. Work well with children, school personnel, parents, and the public Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing Complete basic clerical and office tasks Work efficiently and effectively without close supervision Experience working with children, preferred. Previous secretary, receptionist or office manager experience, preferred. Essential Functions Customer Service & Office Environment Provide great customer service, information, and assistance to students, staff, and visitors. Create a warm and friendly office environment. Provide a variety of clerical and office assistant duties. Student Support & Well-Being Assist with academic, social, emotional, and health needs of students. Participate in staff development training programs, faculty meetings, and special events as assigned. Professionalism & Collaboration Demonstrate integrity and maintain confidentiality. Interact respectfully and appropriately with staff, students, and visitors. Work well with others, maintaining positive and effective communication with all school personnel. Support the goals and objectives of the school district and follow all district policies. Safety & Compliance Uphold and adhere to safety rules and policies of the Ankeny Community School District safety program. Perform all duties in a safe manner to avoid injury to oneself and/or others. Attendance & Additional Responsibilities Demonstrate the ability to attend work on a regular and routine basis to avoid disruption to district operations. Other Functions Responds to emergency situations for the purpose of resolving immediate safety concerns and/or directing appropriate personnel for resolution. Performs other related duties, as assigned. Working Environment Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors The usual and customary methods of performing the position functions require the following physical demands: lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, climbing, reaching, driving, standing and walking. Working conditions may include extreme temperatures and humidity. Hazards may include exposure to communicable diseases. This position requires one to maintain emotional control under stress. Terms of Employment Work year established by the District; Salary according to schedule adopted annually.
