Transportation Secretary Greenwood Community Sch Corp Greenwood, IN Job Details Full-time $17.40 an hour 21 hours ago Qualifications High school diploma or GED Full Job Description 2-Hour Mid-Day Transportation Center Secretary Transportation Center Secretary - Mid-Day 2 Hours per Day, School Days Reports to Director of Operations Support Staff The Mid-Day Transportation Center Secretary provides clerical, communication, and operational support to the Transportation Department during the mid-day hours. This position assists with telephone and radio communications, driver and route information, student transportation changes, record keeping, and other daily office responsibilities. The secretary serves as an important communication link among bus drivers, transportation staff, school offices, parents/guardians, and district personnel. The position requires excellent communication skills, organization, confidentiality, and the ability to remain calm and professional in a fast-paced environment. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Answer incoming telephone calls and respond to routine transportation questions from parents/guardians, school personnel, and staff. Communicate transportation information accurately and professionally to drivers, schools, parents/guardians, and district personnel. Monitor and assist with two-way radio communications with bus drivers as needed. Receive and communicate information regarding student transportation changes, route concerns, delays, and other transportation issues. Assist with preparing the Transportation Center for afternoon bus operations. Maintain accurate driver, route, student, and transportation records as assigned. Assist with driver attendance and identify potential staffing or route coverage needs. Communicate driver absences, substitute assignments, and other operational information to appropriate transportation personnel. Assist with locating students, buses, or route information when questions arise from schools or parents/guardians. Provide clerical support including data entry, filing, copying, scanning, and preparation of transportation documents. Assist with maintaining transportation department files and records. Maintain confidentiality of student, employee, and district information. Provide courteous and professional customer service to parents/guardians, employees, students, and the public. Assist Transportation Department administrators and staff with special projects and other duties as assigned. Follow all district policies, procedures, and applicable transportation and student safety requirements. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent required. Previous secretarial, clerical, customer service, school, or transportation experience preferred. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Ability to communicate effectively by telephone and two-way radio. Basic computer skills and ability to learn district transportation and student information systems. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment. Ability to work independently and as part of the Transportation Department team. Ability to maintain confidentiality regarding students and employees. Dependable attendance and punctuality are essential. Physical Requirements The employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, communicate by telephone and radio, and operate standard office equipment. The employee must be able to perform the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation. Work Environment Work is performed in the Transportation Center office. The position requires frequent interaction with bus drivers, transportation staff, school personnel, parents/guardians, and district employees. 40 an Hour Performance Expectations The successful employee will demonstrate reliability, professionalism, good judgment, accuracy, confidentiality, and a commitment to providing safe and efficient transportation services for students. The employee must be able to respond calmly and appropriately when transportation issues arise and work cooperatively with transportation staff and school personnel.
