Office Staff/Referral Clerk Cumberland Family Medical Center (CFMC) operates a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) offering a wide range of health and social services at multiple sites throughout Kentucky. The ideal candidate for a Referral Clerk position is highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced clinical environment. They possess strong communication skills, allowing them to effectively interact with patients, providers, and external offices with professionalism and empathy. A successful candidate demonstrates a solid understanding of healthcare processes, including insurance verification and prior authorizations, and is comfortable navigating electronic health record (EHR) systems. They are proactive in following up on referrals, ensuring timely coordination of care, and take pride in maintaining accuracy in all documentation. Dependability, discretion, and a patient-centered mindset are essential, as this role plays a key part in ensuring patients receive seamless, coordinated care.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Greet all patients and visitors cheerfully. Answer telephone, triage calls, and maintain records of exam. Schedule appointments and referrals to other providers. Register patients, help with the completion of necessary forms, and direct to the appropriate staff person, if needed. Complete encounter form upon arrival and checking (electronic and/or paper). Assist Physician, Nurse Practitioners, Clinical Assistants, and Office Manager as requested. Maintain neat, clean, and professional work area. Maintain established department policies. Assist in care and maintenance of department equipment and supplies. Other duties as assigned.
Education/Experience:
High School Diploma/GED Experience preferred Skills necessary: keyboarding, oral and written communication
Schedule Requirements:
Full-time position, 5 days per week, 100% clinic-based, in person work required. Work schedules are set at the discretion of CFMC and may be adjusted at any time based on the operational needs of the organization.
Compensation:
Negotiable based on experience
