Job Description
Position Gift Shop Assistant The Gift Shop Assistant is responsible for upholding and maintaining the NOAAM experience by warmly welcoming visitors, maintaining the aesthetic of the space with light housekeeping, answering the phone, and processing sales transactions. They are knowledgeable individuals who inform guests of current exhibits, programming & history of the museum. Gift Shop Assistants receive incoming shipments, assist with inventory, pricing, stocking, and storeroom coordination, plus provide stellar customer service at the NOAAM Gift Shop. The Gift Shop Assistant is a quintessential part of the "Front of the House," as well as being able to anticipate visitors' needs and efficiently address customer inquiries.
Reports to:
Front of House Manager Areas of Focus include providing excellent customer service, maintaining the gift shop, reading room and exhibitions and projects happening on campus. Provide admin assistance on inventory, maintenance of the campus, and general front-of-house duties on Wednesdays as an integral part of the Operations Team.Core Competencies:

Opening and closing duties Follow 'Opening & Closing' checklist First point of contact for visitors Receives and tracks all mail and packages Does a morning and closing walkthrough with a checklist for tracking Greetings Guests Standard NOAAM Welcome Attend Weekly staff meetings Manage the Wild Apricot membership platform with the Fund Development Coordinator Informing staff of guest arrival for meetings Identify all board members by face and name Answer phones and take, and distribute messages Check the mailbox daily, give to the Operations Manager Answer info@noaam.org emails daily Operate register; checkout guests (admission & gift shop purchases) Maintain the stock & appearance of Gift shop merchandise Donations Answer any questions guests may have Create and update FAQs; they should be updated quarterly Cash count- daily
