Job Description

The Role:

East Longmeadow Public Schools is seeking a caring, organized, and dependable Health Room Secretary to support the school nurse and the daily operation of an elementary school health room.

Responsibilities include:

Assist the school nurse with the daily operation of the health room and provide support to students visiting the health office.

Greet students, parents, and staff and respond appropriately to health room needs.

Maintain accurate student health records, documentation, files, and other confidential information.

Answer phones, communicate with parents/guardians, and perform general clerical and administrative duties.

Assist with student first aid within the scope of the position and under established school procedures.

Help maintain health room supplies, forms, records, and organization.

Provide a calm, caring, and welcoming environment for elementary-aged students.

Maintain strict confidentiality regarding student health and personal information.

Perform other related duties as assigned by the school nurse, building principal, or designee.

Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent; strong organizational, communication, computer, and recordkeeping skills; ability to work effectively with children, families, and staff; ability to handle interruptions and multiple priorities in a busy school health room. Prior experience in a school, medical office, health care, or similar setting is preferred.

Schedule:

School-year position, 35 hours per week.
