Candidates must share OSACPS's mission and EL Education philosophy, which provides K8 students with rigorous, real-world learning experiences in a supportive and nurturing school community, helping all students to become reflective inquisitors, articulate communicators, critical thinkers, and skilled problem solvers. The successful candidate will bring a collaborative spirit of "we are crew, not passengers." Experience in a school office and familiarity with diverse learner populations, including English Language Learners and students with disabilities, is preferred.
The School Front Office Assistant reports to the Head of School.
Schedule and terms: Full-time, temporary, non-exempt hourly. 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., including an unpaid 30-minute meal break. This is a temporary position and is not benefits eligible. The assignment ends in November unless extended in writing, and carries no expectation of continued employment beyond that date.

Key ResponsibilitiesFront desk receptionist; answers telephone calls and delivers messages; greets and directs children, parents, substitute teachers, and other visitorsMaintain the Head of School's calendarProcess purchase orders, invoices, and reimbursement requestsAssist with school mailingsAssist with staff attendance tracking and coverageMaintain electronic and paper filesAssist with recordkeeping requirementsProgress report and report card communication with staff, printing, and mailingCreate and disseminate daily dismissal listsAssist with the maintenance of student information including database, student records, and class listsMonitor the student absentee call-in system and contact parents to verify absences when necessaryCoordinate and facilitate communication between students, parents, community organizations, and the general publicLearn, interpret, apply, and explain rules, regulations, policies, and proceduresSupport school eventsOrder office and instructional suppliesMaintain internal and external electronic distribution listsAbility to work collaboratively and productively in an organization that prioritizes Diversity, Equity, Accessibility, and Inclusion operationsMaintain clear documentation of in-progress work to support a smooth transition at the end of the assignmentPerform other job-related duties as assignedWorking With Our CrewAt Old Sturbridge Academy, our faculty and staff collaborate and support one another and our students through school-wide activities, events, and celebrations.
