Job Description
Office Assistant (Part-Time) Alpena Childcare & Development Center is seeking a dependable, organized, and detail-oriented Office Assistant to support the daily operations of our nonprofit childcare center. This position is approximately 24-30 hours per week. The ideal candidate will have strong communication and organizational skills, be comfortable working with confidential information, and possess experience with general office and bookkeeping tasks. Primary Responsibilities Welcome families, visitors, and vendors Process accounts payable and accounts receivable Reconcile accounts and complete month-end financial transactions Prepare invoices and process cash and credit card payments Maintain confidential files and office records Create, update, and maintain spreadsheets and databases Grant writing and reporting Perform general administrative and clerical duties Assist with maintaining an organized and efficient office Answer and direct incoming phone calls Qualifications Excellent verbal and written communication skills Strong organizational skills and exceptional attention to detail Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and other office software Ability to handle confidential information with professionalism and discretion Ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple responsibilities, and work independently Must be able to successfully pass a criminal background check Experience managing financial records, including paying bills, reconciling accounts, balancing books, and maintaining accurate financial documentation Preferred Qualifications Two or more years of office or administrative experience One or more years of customer service experience Experience with QuickBooks or similar accounting software Experience with bookkeeping or nonprofit accounting is a plus
