Job Description

RECIPIENT RIGHTS SPECIALIST - TRAVERSE CITY OR CADILLAC
This administrative position works as a team member of NLCMHA's Office of Recipient Rights and assists the Director of the Office in protecting the rights of recipients of community mental health services. The Recipient Rights Specialist provides Recipient Rights Protection services to recipients and performs varied administrative support functions. This position has no supervisory or direct clinical service responsibilities and is under the direct supervision of the Director of the Office of Recipient Rights.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Acts as the first point of contact to the Office of Recipient Rights (ORR), providing information, advocacy, and referral services to consumers, their legal representatives, family members, or members of the community. Provides primary intake function for contacts with the ORR by answering calls and correspondence, conducting initial review of, documenting, and tracking questions, complaints, and reports to the ORR. Assists in developing and disseminating rights protection materials and other information to staff, consumers, and the public. Conducts visits to service sites and monitors providers for compliance with statutory, regulatory, and accreditation requirements. Conducts simple complaint interventions and assists in researching and collecting evidence for investigations. Provides training and education to recipients, parents of minor recipients, guardians, family members, community stakeholders, and provider staff. Responsible for maintaining office organization, entering data, and preparing reports generated from the ORR. Support the on-going operations of the Office of Recipient Rights by providing efficient administrative support including producing, collating, and assembling information, maintaining and managing databases, office files, or other information, requisitioning supplies and equipment. Assist with organizing and scheduling meetings of the ORR and the Recipient Rights Advisory Committee (RRAC). Prepare and disseminate postings, agendas, packets, and minutes of RRAC or other meetings. Assure for any accommodations or audiovisual equipment. Maintain RRAC member and historical folders.
QUALIFICATIONS
Demonstrated commitment to the human and legal rights of all persons, and to persons with disabilities in particular. Initiative, judgment, and discretion, and the ability to perform work independently with direction from supervisor. MINIMUM EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
Graduation from high school/GED, including or supplemented by course work in secretarial subjects. At least two (2) years experience and general office clerical work required and at least one (1) year experience in a client services setting preferred; or any equivalent combination of training and experience that would provide the knowledge, ability and skill to meet the requirements listed herein.
PAY:
$53,270 - $60,270

WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
This position may require irregular hours. This position may require travel by personal vehicle if an agency vehicle is not available.
