  • Support the ministries of the church through a variety of responsibilities.
  • Work independently but collegially to fulfill the duties of the position.
  • Build and foster relationships between the congregation and community.
  • Serve as the center of communications for the congregation.
Job Specifications Essential:
  • Education and experience in office administration and clerical work.
  • Trustworthy, highly organized, self-motivated, and creative.
  • Strong Computer and Microsoft Office 365 skills. Ability to learn member management software.
  • A demonstrated ability to work as a team member within a staff.
  • Professionalism and integrity on the job and in daily life.
  • A demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Patience, flexibility and a high capacity for joy, fun, and fellowship.
  • On one's own journey of faith in God.
Key Responsibilities:
Key responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to, the following:
  • Answer incoming calls and e-mails. Greet members and visitors representing the church in a positive and joyful way.
  • Maintain the electronic membership database and keep up-to-date ministerial acts on behalf of the pastoral team.
  • Support the Business Manager by inputting weekly financial giving into the member management software.
  • Worship aid creation and production including print and electronic media (bulletins, announcement inserts).
  • Create and execute weekly and monthly electronic communications.
  • Support the maintenance of the church website.
  • Schedule and coordinate life-event ministries including baptisms, weddings, funerals, and facility rentals.
  • Oversee and execute strategies for recruiting weekly worship assistants.
  • Support ministry staff and activities when called upon.
  • Provide office support to lay leaders and their work for the church.
  • Maintain print and electronic records of congregational meetings.
  • Maintain inventory of office, kitchen, and custodial supplies.
Skill development expectations:
  • Support the ministries and mission of the congregation.
  • Take advantage of continuing education opportunities.
  • Pursue life-long continuing education goals. Accountability and Reporting The Office Assistant will:
  • Report directly to the Lead Pastor.
  • Participate in a 30 and 90 day review the first year. An annual review thereafter will assess the Assistant's effectiveness in fulfilling the responsibilities of the position.
  • Attend all appropriate meetings, retreats, and other team-building events for the congregational staff as determined by the clergy.
  • Conduct themselves in a manner supportive to the whole staff. Compensation and Support Lutheran Church of the Cross (LCC) will support the Office Assistant in their work through prayer, respect, and support for the sake of our shared ministry in Christ's name. Financial Compensation & Benefits
  • Hourly wage of $23.00 per hour.
  • Holiday and Sick Pay after 4 weeks of continuous employment.
