Job Description

OR Surgery Unit Clerk M-F 8-5 Position Summary Under general supervision, performs a variety of general and specialized clerical support tasks related to departmental functions. The Unit Clerk provides assistance to staff to ensure patient information is collected and available in a timely manner. Greets customers and answers the telephone professionally. Provides direct or indirect patient care. Computer schedules and information programs are maintained and updated in a timely manner, as appropriate. A 30-day notice is required when an employee resigns.
CLINICAL JUDGMENT/CARE DELIVERY
The Unit Clerk performs general and specialized clerical support tasks under general supervision.
Unit Clerk Accountability:
Implements the policies and procedures of the hospital and department of assignment Greets customers and answers the telephone professionally. Completes required documentation, maintaining and updating computerized schedule and information programs in a timely manner Prepares and compiles patient medical records or patient information in the unit of assignment. Maintain proficiency in equipment operation and troubleshooting in the area of primary assignment Enters and verifies orders in the computer system Demonstrates professional conduct with accountability for actions. Performs other related duties as assigned or requested. Maybe required to work outside the traditional work schedule. Demonstrates professional conduct with accountability for actions. Prioritizes needs and problems for actions Makes suggestions to improve processes Informs peers if best practices are not followed Utilizes BBGH standardized tools and behaviors in conflict resolution Follows the chain of command for unresolved issues Supports the implementation of clinical changes and evidence-based practices Participates in performance improvement initiatives Age Requirement 18 years of age or older
