Part-Time House Manager / Household Assistant

Entry-Level JobVerifiedNo experience needed

Job Description

Who We Are We're a busy, fun, fast-paced couple in the Bennington/West Omaha area looking for a dependable, highly organized House Manager / Household Assistant to help keep our home and day-to-day life running smoothly. We're looking for someone who genuinely enjoys creating order, notices what needs attention, and takes pride in leaving a home reset and ready for the family. Some days may be focused on laundry, organization and restocking; others may involve errands, cooking or meal prep, returns, appointments, bill entry or preparing for an event. We have a regular cleaning service, so this is not a traditional housekeeping position. This role is about managing the day-to-day reset of the home and taking ownership of the many details that keep a busy household functioning. No two days will look exactly the same. We need someone who can work independently, communicate well, follow through, and adjust priorities when needed. What You'll Be Doing Household Reset & Organization Reset and straighten the home each scheduled day, including bedrooms, bathrooms, kitchen, living areas and outdoor spaces. Make beds and put away clothing, towels, blankets and personal items throughout the home. Keep closets, bathrooms, kitchen areas and frequently used spaces organized. Manage household laundry from start to finish—washing, drying, folding, hanging and putting everything away. Change and wash bedding and household linens on a regular schedule. Handle dry cleaning as needed. Keep kitchen and dining areas reset, including dishes, food, trash and general cleanup. Spot-clean areas as needed between regular cleaning-service visits. Monitor household supplies and restock essentials before they run out. Sort mail and process deliveries and packages according to household preferences. Groceries, Cooking & Errands Grocery shop and keep regularly used food, beverages and household essentials stocked. Assist with cooking and meal preparation based on the family's needs and preferences. Someone who enjoys cooking and baking is a definite plus! Keep refrigerators and pantry areas organized and remove expired or spoiled items. Handle returns, shipping, dry cleaning, shopping, pickups and other household errands. Complete occasional pickups or drop-offs for family members. Assist with occasional errands or special requests for extended family. Make occasional pickups or deliveries to family-owned businesses, such as dropping off paperwork, paychecks or other items. These are errand-based tasks and do not involve business operations or decision-making. Vehicles & Driving Driving is an important part of this position. We have several household vehicles of different sizes and types, so we need someone who is a confident and responsible driver. Drive household vehicles for errands, service appointments, car washes, pickups, drop-offs and other requested tasks. Help keep vehicles clean, fueled and ready for use. Be comfortable safely operating a variety of vehicles, including passenger vehicles, SUVs, sports cars and full-size trucks. Assist with routine vehicle service and maintenance appointments as requested. Treat all household vehicles with appropriate care and attention. Household & Personal Administration Review the shared family calendar each scheduled workday to stay aware of upcoming activities and household needs. Keep track of requests and follow-ups communicated by text, email or calendar. Assist with basic personal bill entry and routine household paperwork. Maintain household lists, reminders and recurring schedules. Help coordinate routine household appointments and service providers. Assist with administrative coordination for an out-of-state family property when needed, including contacting established vendors, scheduling requested services and following up on completion. Follow established processes and bring decisions back to us rather than independently authorizing significant purchases, repairs or changes. Home, Pets & Outdoor Areas Water and monitor indoor and outdoor plants. Keep patios, outdoor furniture and living areas picked up and ready for use. Monitor routine household needs and communicate when something requires maintenance or additional attention. Be present for household maintenance or service appointments when requested. Assist with occasional pet-related needs or appointments. Help keep pet-related areas and supplies organized and maintained. Events & Special Projects Help prepare the home for parties, holidays, guests and family events. Assist with both one-day tasks and longer-term household organization projects. Complete occasional time-sensitive family errands or requests. Assist with special projects for the family as needed. Adjust priorities when an unexpected or more urgent need comes up. Who You Are We're looking for someone who doesn't need to be told every little thing that needs attention. If household staples are running low, something needs to be put away or a routine task needs to be handled, you notice it and take care of it. At the same time, we know how we like things done. We want someone who is comfortable receiving specific instructions and following through on them rather than making assumptions. If you're unsure, we'd much rather you ask. You'll be a great fit if you are: Dependable, consistent and someone we can count on. Highly organized with strong time-management skills. A self-starter who notices what needs attention. A strong finisher who takes tasks from start to completion. Comfortable receiving direction and following household preferences. Able to recognize when something can be handled independently and when a decision should be brought back to us. Flexible and able to shift priorities when something more urgent comes up. A clear communicator who is comfortable asking questions and confirming details. Trustworthy and discreet with personal, financial and family information. Comfortable using shared calendars, text, email and basic online systems. Comfortable around pets. Comfortable with basic cooking and meal preparation. Someone who enjoys a mix of household tasks, errands, organization and light administrative work. Comfortable working independently without constant supervision. Schedule & Flexibility The regular schedule is Monday, Wednesday and Friday, approximately 20-25 hours per week. Consistency with these days is important. There may occasionally be a family event, party, special project or time-sensitive need outside of the regular schedule. Off-day or weekend help would be occasional rather than routine, and advance notice will be provided whenever reasonably possible. This is a fully in-person position based in the Bennington/West Omaha area. Candidates who live nearby are preferred due to the nature of the position and errands involved, but proximity is not required. Qualifications Valid driver's license and good driving record. Confident, responsible driver comfortable operating vehicles of different sizes and types. Comfortable driving higher-value vehicles, including sports cars, SUVs and full-size trucks. Reliable personal transportation and ability to consistently commute to the Bennington area. High school diploma or equivalent. Previous experience as a House Manager, Household Assistant, Personal Assistant or similar position preferred, but we are open to candidates with highly transferable experience. Comfortable using computers, smartphones, shared calendars and basic online systems. Comfortable handling routine personal and financial information with discretion. Ability to safely perform normal household tasks, errands and light indoor/outdoor work. What We Offer Paid weekly. Year-round work. Casual, comfortable work environment. Variety—no two days are exactly the same. Opportunity to build trust and take on additional responsibilities over time. Interested? We'd love to hear from you! Please send us a brief introduction telling us about yourself, your relevant experience and why this type of position interests you. We'd especially like to hear about any experience you have managing a household, working as a household or personal assistant, organizing a busy home, running errands, handling confidential information, coordinating vendors, or cooking and meal prepping for a family.
