Job Description

The Clay County Treasurer's Office is taking job applications for an opening for a Full-Time Office Clerk. Working hours will be Monday through Friday, 8AM through 4PM. Applications are available at the Clay County Clerk's Office at 111 West Fairfield Street in Clay Center and will be reviewed as they are received.
Position Summary:
The Office Clerk for the Treasurer's Office performs general administrative duties, interacts with, and assists citizens of the County and general public, and ensures that aspects of the Treasurer's Office are running smoothly. Essential Job Functions Perform administrative duties such as data entry, typing, filing, etc. Answer phone inquiries within scope of responsibility. Refer inquiries to proper resources as necessary. Collect and handle taxpayer inquiries related to real estate, personal, sales, and other taxes collected by the County Treasurer. Issue driver's licenses, CDL's, learner permits, ID cards, school permits, etc. Maintain knowledge of state codes relative to designated responsibilities of the motor vehicle department. Transfer titles, replacement titles, and registration renewals. Prepare all types of licenses, titles, and legal documents for the recording processes. Accurate, timely, and efficient posting and balancing of licenses, titles, and legal documents. Proofread and process miscellaneous records and forms. Maintain all files for the office. Provide responsive, courteous, and efficient service to the County residents and the general public. Maintain daily receipts and reconcile cash. All other duties as assigned. Preferred Talents Effective communication skills both verbal and written. Organization and multi-tasking skills. Ability to carry out written or oral instructions independently. Ability to interact positively with the public, volunteers, Board members, County staff, and state personnel. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent. One (1) to three (3) years of prior related experience.
