Job Description

SCOPE OF POSITION
The Administrative Assistant provides administrative and clerical support to the Nursing Department. This position schedules and coordinates internal and external medical appointments for residents, including arranging appropriate transportation, and accompanies residents to occasional off-site appointments as needed. We are committed to providing preventative and restorative care to all residents and clients here at Rockingham County. We want our residents to feel safe, comfortable, and supported in all aspects of their lives to include not only physical, but also emotional, social, spiritual, environmental, and intellectual well-being. The Administrative Assistant plays an important role in supporting the daily operations of the Nursing Department through a combination of clerical, scheduling, communication, and resident support functions. Responsibilities include coordinating medical appointments with providers, arranging transportation, accompanying residents to occasional off-site appointments, and assisting with resident mobility as needed. The position also performs general clerical duties, answers and directs phone calls, maintains and distributes daily census information, and maintains resident/client packets for hospital admissions and physician appointments. Additional responsibilities include maintaining Nursing Department admission and re-admission packets, hospice paperwork, and emergency documentation files, creating monthly mail merges for physician order forms, and providing clerical support for the center's routine orientation program. The Administrative Assistant participates in special projects, survey inspections, Quality Improvement/QAPI programs, required trainings and meetings, and further, supports Resident Rights, confidentiality, safety, and Infection Control policies and procedures. This position also responds to emergency situations in accordance with facility policies and assists as necessary. Must be able to work hours as scheduled based on the requirements of the position and department. High School Diploma or GED; and Knowledge of office procedures equivalent to the completion of a one-year certificate from college or technical school or; Three to five years related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must possess and maintain a current, valid, unencumbered New Hampshire Licensed Nursing Assistant (LNA) license. CPR / Basic Life Support (BLS) certified.
