Approximately 25 hours per week; flexible scheduling with regular evenings, weekends, and show nights required About Jimmy's Jazz & Blues Club Jimmy's Jazz & Blues Club is an award-winning live music and entertainment venue in Portsmouth, New Hampshire, recognized as one of the country's premier listening rooms. Opened in September 2021 by brothers Michael and Peter Labrie, Jimmy's combines historic architecture, world-class acoustics, exceptional dining, and unforgettable live performances in an intimate listening-room environment. The Labrie family has deep roots in the Portsmouth community, having been part of the local business and community landscape for generations. In addition to presenting nationally and internationally recognized jazz, blues, and roots artists, Jimmy's hosts private events, weddings, corporate gatherings, and other special occasions. The venue features a full-service culinary kitchen and brings together live music, hospitality, dining, and events to create a distinctive experience for both local guests and visitors to the Seacoast. Position Overview The Box Office Associate is an important part of the guest experience at Jimmy's, serving as one of the first points of contact for patrons before they attend a show. This position is responsible for ticket sales and customer service while also supporting the day-to-day operations of the box office and venue. We are looking for someone who is highly organized, comfortable working on a computer, personable, dependable, and able to stay focused and productive whether the box office is busy or quiet. Our box office uses several ticketing and administrative software platforms. Previous experience with ticketing software is not required ; however, the ability to learn new systems quickly and confidently navigate multiple computer programs is essential. The ideal candidate enjoys working with people, has strong attention to detail, communicates professionally, and can remain calm and organized when there are multiple priorities competing for their attention. Box Office Associates will also be cross-trained in other front-of-house responsibilities , including ushering, coat check, guest check-in, and other venue operations as needed. This provides the opportunity to learn multiple aspects of the guest experience and support the team during busy show nights. Key Responsibilities Box Office & Ticketing Process ticket sales, exchanges, refunds, and other ticket-related transactions accurately and efficiently. Assist guests with seating questions, ticket orders, account information, will-call, and other box office needs. Provide friendly and professional customer service in person, over the phone, and via email. Respond to guest questions and resolve ticketing issues with patience and attention to detail. Assist with high-volume presales, onsales, and busy show days. Work with multiple ticketing and administrative software platforms and learn new systems as needed. Maintain accurate patron and ticket order information. Process payments including credit cards, cash, gift cards, vouchers, and other approved payment methods. Assist with guest check-in and ticket scanning when needed. Daily Operations & Administration Complete box office opening and closing procedures. Keep the box office organized, professional, and ready for daily operations and upcoming shows. Monitor and respond to box office emails and phone calls in a timely manner. Complete administrative and operational tasks, including printing schedules, production notes, setlists, menus, and other venue materials. Maintain organized files, paperwork, and other box office materials. Stay productive and take initiative during slower periods by completing administrative, organizational, and other assigned tasks. Guest Experience & Venue Support Assist with show-night operations and provide a welcoming first point of contact for arriving guests. Cross-train in ushering and other front-of-house responsibilities to support the guest experience throughout the venue. Manage coat check during applicable shows and events. Assist with guest check-in, ticket scanning, seating assistance, and other patron needs as needed. Assist with artist merchandise sales, inventory, setup, and post-show settlement when needed. Assist with dining or brunch reservation requests and guest check-ins as needed. Help ensure guest-facing materials, schedules, menus, and promotional materials are stocked and presented professionally. Work collaboratively with the Box Office Manager, Assistant Box Office Manager, and other venue departments. Marketing & Promotional Support Assist the Marketing Manager with promotional and audience-engagement initiatives as needed. Help distribute promotional materials and support marketing efforts throughout the venue. Assist with preparing and organizing marketing materials, show information, and other guest-facing communications. Support occasional marketing projects and special initiatives as assigned. What We're Looking For High school diploma or equivalent. Strong computer skills and the ability to learn and navigate multiple software platforms quickly. Previous ticketing software experience is not required. Comfortable working with email, Microsoft Word, Excel, and web-based applications. Excellent attention to detail and strong organizational skills. Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities while maintaining accuracy. Self-motivated and able to stay productive during slower periods without constant direction. Calm, organized, and efficient during busy periods and high-volume show days. Friendly, professional, and confident communication skills. Previous customer service, hospitality, retail, administrative, or box office experience is preferred but not required. A genuine interest in music and live performance is a plus. Dependable and flexible with a willingness to work evenings, weekends, and holidays based on the venue's show schedule. Ability to maintain a professional, business-casual appearance appropriate for a high-end hospitality environment. Ability to stand for extended periods and perform light lifting, merchandise handling, coat check duties, and workspace upkeep. What Success Looks Like A successful Box Office Associate is someone who can confidently move between helping a guest, answering the phone, processing a ticket order, responding to an email, assisting with coat check, ushering a patron, supporting a marketing initiative, and completing administrative work while keeping everything accurate and organized.
