Job Description

Job Summary Join the Walpole Highway Department as an Administrative Assistant and become a vital support pillar for our team! This essential role offers the opportunity to streamline office operations, coordinate essential administrative tasks, and ensure smooth communication on behalf of the Road Agent . You will be the friendly face at the Highway Garage, manage incoming calls and communications, handle data entry, and support various clerical functions that keep the Town's highway projects moving forward. If you thrive in a steady-paced environment and enjoy organizing details with accuracy, this position is perfect for you! Duties Serve as the first point of contact for Highway Garage, greeting the public and vendors and directing inquiries with professionalism and enthusiasm Answer calls promptly, and route messages efficiently Maintain accurate records through data entry, filing, and document proofreading to ensure information integrity Utilize computer skills to prepare reports, correspondence, and spreadsheets using Microsoft Office Support office management tasks such as calendar management, coordinating appointments with reminders Handle expense tracking for budgeted items and grants using MS Excel Assist with clerical duties including filing, photocopying, and organizing departmental documents to promote operational efficiency Skills Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) Strong organizational skills with excellent time management abilities to prioritize tasks effectively Experience with office management procedures and clerical work within a professional environment Exceptional phone etiquette with experience managing multi-line phone systems and providing customer support Demonstrated attention to detail through proofreading, data entry accuracy, and filing practices Ability to handle sensitive information discreetly while maintaining a positive customer service attitude This position offers a dynamic work environment where your organizational talents will directly contribute to the efficiency of the Town of Walpole's highway operations.
