Job Description

Job Overview We are a busy family of four with two young children and a friendly dog seeking an experienced, highly organized, and proactive Part-Time Household Manager / Family Assistant . The right person will take ownership of day-to-day household organization, help create sustainable systems, and ensure our home remains orderly, functional, and well stocked. We are looking for someone who notices what needs to be done, takes initiative, and can independently follow tasks through to completion. This is an ideal opportunity for an experienced household manager, family assistant, personal assistant, or professional organizer who enjoys creating structure and helping a household run smoothly. This position is primarily focused on household management, organization, errands, and light daily tidying . It is not a traditional deep-cleaning or full-time nanny position. Initial Organization Projects The person hired will initially help us create and implement practical organizational systems throughout the home, including: Organizing hallway, linen, and upstairs bedroom closets Creating an organized and easy-to-maintain pantry system Organizing basement closets and storage areas Organizing the garage Identifying household items that should be relocated, donated, discarded, or replenished Developing systems that make it easy for the family to keep each area organized Ongoing Responsibilities Put away laundry and maintain organized clothing and linen systems Clean up after breakfast and reset the kitchen for the day Make beds and complete light daily tidying Keep common areas organized, functional, and clutter-free Maintain pantry, closet, storage, and household organization systems Monitor household inventory, including toiletries, cleaning supplies, paper products, and other essentials Place household orders before supplies run out Receive and put away groceries, packages, and household deliveries Run local errands such as grocery shopping, returns, pharmacy pickups, and dry cleaning Coordinate appointments and communicate with household service providers when needed Help schedule repairs, maintenance, deliveries, and other household services Complete general household reset tasks to keep the home running smoothly Anticipate household needs and proactively address them Communicate regularly with the homeowners regarding priorities, completed tasks, and items requiring attention Qualifications Previous professional experience as a household manager, family assistant, personal assistant, estate assistant, or in a similar private-home role Strong organizational and time-management skills Ability to create practical systems that can be maintained over time Proactive and comfortable working independently Excellent attention to detail Dependable, trustworthy, discreet, and respectful of the family's privacy Comfortable working in a home with young children and a dog Able to manage multiple priorities and follow tasks through to completion Strong communication skills Valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and willingness to run local errands Ability to lift and move ordinary household items, groceries, packages, and storage containers as needed Professional references from prior employers or families Schedule Part-time Weekdays Consistent weekly availability preferred Exact days and hours will be discussed based on the candidate's availability and the needs of the household Occasional schedule flexibility may be requested with advance notice What Success Looks Like The ideal candidate will become a trusted and dependable part of our household.
