Job Description
Overview About the Firm Advocacy Matters, LLC is a boutique conservation law practice seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented professional to support the smooth running of the office and related legal services. The firm's lead attorney also seeks a dependable assistant who can balance professional administrative duties with personal assistance and pet care responsibilities. Position Summary- This combined role provides (a) law firm office support to the lead attorney and legal operations, and (b) personal assistant services including errands and pet care for the lead attorney's dog. The successful candidate will be proactive, discreet, tech-savvy, and comfortable switching between legal office tasks Responsibilities- Core Responsibilities 1. Law Firm Office Assistance
- Serve as assistant to the lead attorney.
- Perform miscellaneous administrative office functions as requested.
- Conduct research in practice areas including land conservation, non-profits, historic preservation, and succession/estate planning.
- Research and prepare in-house legal memos for project outreach and development.
- Assist the law firm administrator with billing, expense tracking, and office. administration, as requested.
- Handle confidential information and correspondence.
- Schedule appointments and coordinate meetings upon request
- Arrange travel plans, accommodations, and itineraries. 2. Personal Assistant Duties (Lead Attorney)
- Run errands and courier-related tasks for the lead attorney, including, but not limited to, bank deposits, post office, ordering supplies, and court drop-offs or online filings.
- Provide general support in both personal and professional tasks.
- Coordinate household or personal appointments for the lead attorney as needed, including errands, vendor/contractor scheduling, and service appointments.
- Maintain discretion and safeguard confidential information at all times. Discretion and the ability to handle confidential information are required. 3. Dog Walking & Care
- Walk and/or hike the office dog to ensure proper exercise.
- Provide dog sitting on occasion, when lead attorney is traveling.
- Schedule and, as needed, accompany the office dog to veterinary and grooming appointments.
- Ensure the office dog is safe, happy, and well-cared for. Qualifications
- Previous experience as a Personal Assistant, Executive Assistant, or in a similar role; law firm experience is a plus.
- Tech-savvy with strong organizational and problem-solving skills; proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, online meeting platforms, and other office management software.
- Strong organizational skills and detail orientation are required.
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
- Comfortable around dogs with experience in their care.
- Discreet, professional, and able to handle confidential information.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation required.
- Familiarity with, or willingness to learn about law practice areas- conservation, historic preservation, succession/estate planning, and related topics.
- Ability to organize, share, and present findings and to meet deadlines with deliverables; able to work independently and as part of a team.
Pay:
