Job Description

Are you detail-oriented, organized, and ready to contribute to a mission-driven team? Our client is seeking a dependable Data Entry Clerk for a long-term, full-time assignment with the potential to transition into a permanent role. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who thrives in a structured environment and takes pride in accuracy and consistency. In this role, you'll be responsible for managing incoming communications—including faxes, mail, and emails—and ensuring that all responses are processed and filed correctly. You'll also perform callback duties, contacting gun dealers to relay background check statuses (proceed, delay, or deny), and assist with scanning and organizing denied cases into electronic formats. Additional responsibilities include entering data into the FBI's National Instant Criminal Background Check System (NICS), conducting initial background checks, and performing frontline research to support higher-level decision-making.
Key Responsibilities:
Collect and process incoming faxes, mail, and emails daily Query and file responses based on subject and content Perform callback duties to notify gun dealers of background check results (proceed, delay, deny) Use internal systems to locate contact information for firearm dealers Organize and scan denied cases into electronic formats Enter data into the FBI's National Instant Criminal Background Check System (NICS) Conduct initial background checks and answer related phone calls Perform basic research to assist staff in determining firearm transfer eligibility
Required Skills & Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent Basic computer skills and familiarity with Microsoft Office programs Strong attention to detail—accuracy is critical Professional communication skills, both written and verbal Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion Must maintain natural hair colors (no pink, green, blue, etc.) Hardworking and dependable individuals who demonstrate accuracy and reliability may be considered for permanent placement as vacancies arise.
