In person Position Summary We are seeking a detail-oriented and patient-focused Administrative Technician to join our ophthalmology practice. The ideal candidate will have at least one year of experience in an ophthalmology office and will provide excellent support while ensuring a positive experience for patients. Key Responsibilities Manage and process all electronic prescription (eRx) refill requests for all providers. Manage and process all medication refill requests received via paper fax. Manage and process all prior authorization (PA) requests, including paper fax requests and requests submitted through CoverMyMeds. Monitor, update, and complete prior authorization requests in CoverMyMeds, ensuring all required information is submitted, and requests are completed in a timely manner. Manage all medication appeals, including coordinating required documentation and communication with insurance companies as needed. Review, address, and complete all patient tasks received from the Call Center, ensuring appropriate follow-up and resolution. Coordinate with providers to complete patient-related paperwork, including FMLA, disability forms, DMV forms, and other required documentation. Monitor all notification items outside of eRx refill requests and patient tasks, including patient letters and secure messages, and ensure appropriate follow-up and completion. Collaborate with providers and other members of the care team to facilitate timely medication management, patient communication, and completion of administrative requests. Maintain accurate and timely documentation of all medication-related requests, prior authorizations, appeals, patient tasks, and paperwork. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent; medical office or healthcare training preferred. At least 1 year of administrative or medical office experience, in ophthalmology or optometry practice. Knowledge of medical terminology and basic ophthalmology terminology. Experience with electronic medical records (EMR/EHR) systems preferred. Familiarity with insurance verification and medical billing processes. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Excellent organization and attention to detail. Ability to multitask and work effectively in a fast-paced clinical environment. Professional, dependable, and patient-centered approach.
