Job Description

a. Receives visitors, answers telephone calls, and provides requested information or makes appropriate referrals to staff members. b. Operates a personal computer and utilizes software to produce acceptable documents including memorandums, letters, spreadsheets, PowerPoint presentations and reviews information for accuracy. c. Operates various pieces of office and business machines including telephones and copier. d. Performs clerical work including opening and distribution of mail, filing, copying, etc. as well as maintains records and files pertinent to the operation of a school building. e. Fills in for other clerical members during absences, lunch breaks and in the event of illness, etc. f. May assist in monitoring pupils in study halls and other building areas. g. Assists Director of Instructional Support with data collection and entry. h. May assist with daily bus duties and other areas as needed. i. Works cooperatively with the Food Service Director on lunch program duties including the Free & Reduced Lunch applications and records, purchase orders, etc. j. Collects daily student attendance, making necessary calls, preparing reports, monitoring the attendance letter process, etc. k. May prepare report cards, certificates, awards, various types of correspondence and schedule parent/teacher conferences. l. Attends training as directed to gain knowledge and improve performance. m. Collects and distributes homework for absent students. n. Performs other related duties as may be assigned by the administration. Job Qualifications a. Graduation from high school and two (2) years of clerical experience. b. Knowledge of office terminology, procedures, and equipment. c. Ability to operate a personal computer and utilize computer software including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, WinCap, etc. d. Experience working with school lunch software (Nutrikids) and the Free & Reduced Lunch application and review process. e. Ability to understand and carry out oral and written directions. f. Ability to communicate by telephone and face-to-face conversation. g. Ability to write legibly and accurately, possess clerical aptitude, show tact, courtesy, and good judgement, and have an acceptable attendance record. h. Ability to always maintain confidentiality.
