Job Description
Description We are looking for a dependable Office Assistant to support the front office of an elementary school. This Contract position is ideal for someone who enjoys creating a welcoming environment for students, families, and staff while keeping daily administrative tasks organized and on schedule. The role requires strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage a busy onsite office setting Monday through Friday in a business casual environment.
Responsibilities:
- Welcome students, parents, and visitors in a courteous and friendly manner while serving as the first point of contact for the school office.
- Track and update daily student attendance information with accuracy and timely follow-up.
- Contact families regarding unexcused absences and document communication appropriately.
- Answer incoming phone calls, respond to routine questions, and direct inquiries to the appropriate school personnel.
- Perform a range of clerical support tasks, including filing, document scanning, data entry, and general office organization.
- Assist with front desk operations to help ensure smooth day-to-day administrative support for the school.
- Use office tools such as Google Docs to prepare, update, and maintain records and correspondence. Requirements
- At least 1 year of experience in an office, receptionist, administrative, or customer-facing support role.
- Ability to manage front desk responsibilities with professionalism and a service-oriented approach.
- Experience handling inbound calls, greeting visitors, and providing general clerical assistance.
- Strong attention to detail when maintaining records, attendance information, and scanned documents.
- Comfortable using Google Docs and other standard office technology for daily administrative tasks.
- Clear verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to speak with families in a courteous manner.
- Ability to work onsite in Akron, Ohio, Monday through Friday in a business casual school office environment.
