August 27, 2026 Position Summary St. Vincent-St. Mary High School is seeking a dependable and safety-focused School Bus and Van Driver to transport students to and from school, extracurricular activities, and scheduled pick-up and drop-off locations. The successful candidate will prioritize student safety, follow all traffic and school transportation regulations, maintain a clean and safe vehicle, and ensure students arrive at their destinations safely and on time. This is a part-time, as-needed position with availability required for after-school events. Essential Responsibilities Transport students and other passengers to and from school and school-sanctioned events. Follow scheduled routes and ensure timely arrival at destinations. Remain attentive to traffic, road, and weather conditions while transporting students. Obey all traffic laws and applicable transportation safety requirements. Ensure students safely enter and exit the bus or van. Assist students with boarding and exiting the vehicle as needed. Engage professionally and appropriately with students as they enter and leave the vehicle. Maintain professional interactions with students, parents or guardians, faculty, and staff. Regularly inspect vehicle safety equipment and mechanical components, including tires, brakes, turn signals, and other equipment. Identify and report mechanical issues requiring attention. Maintain a clean and orderly vehicle. Remain available to transport students to after-school events as needed. Complete assigned transportation routes safely and on schedule. Qualifications Current, valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with S&P endorsements . Must be of legal driving age. At least two years of driving experience . Ability to pass a T-8 physical . Ability to pass a BCI/FBI background check . Successful Motor Vehicle Records (MVR) check. Proven work experience as a school bus driver or in a similar transportation role. Clean driving record with no at-fault accidents or traffic citations within the past five years. Two or more years of experience working with children preferred. Ability to complete assigned routes safely and on time. Strong attention to safety and responsibility when transporting students. Key Competencies Strong commitment to student safety. Good judgment and situational awareness. Ability to interact positively and professionally with students, families, and school personnel. Commitment to maintaining a safe, clean, and reliable vehicle. Physical Requirements The position requires the ability to: Sit for prolonged periods while operating a vehicle. Walk and climb as needed to conduct visual inspections of the vehicle. Assist students with boarding and exiting when necessary. Schedule This is a part-time, as-needed position . Availability is required for transporting students to after-school events and other school-sanctioned activities.
