Job Description
Provides high level administrative support to the Chair of Military Science & Leadership (MSL) department, U.S. Amy Cadre (Army Officers/Enlisted) and Department of Defense to facilitate the daily operations of the department. Relieves the Chair of broad routine and non-routine administrative tasks. Serves as University and Department liaison on many levels. Train, instruct and supervise Cadre and Cadets. Manages department budgets and scholarships, supervisor/advisor for Cadet funds. Plan and organize high profile events and works closely with donors. Develop and maintain MSL schedule of classes, assist student with registration. Maintain and update BGSU Army ROTC website. Development/implement policies and procedures. Attend and record minutes at weekly staff meeting. Provide program information, written and oral communications, responds to and supplies information to inquiries, maintains and monitors calendars, prepares and distributes reports, forms, certificates, and publications. Has extensive contact and interaction with internal and external community. Plan, research, and organize workload independently. Serves as BGSU liaison to the Army ROTC Department; represents BGSU at non-university Army ROTC events or meetings; represents Army ROTC at BGSU events or meetings. Responsible for the day to day operations of the MSL department. Assist Chair in administrative duties, relieve as needed. Support instructors and staff. Plan/organize high profile events involving US Army dignitaries/VIPs, BGSU administration, Alumni, Donors, Cadets, parents etc. Signs correspondences. Develop and maintain MSL schedule of classes, review classroom assignment, proof/approve final schedules; register/drop students, perform general/class overrides and class conflicts, purchase course material. Monitor/review MSL courses and minor content. Manage MSL operating and foundation budgets (purchases, verifies, reconciles, reports), petty cash fund, scholarships; administrator for Fighting Falcon Battalion OrgSync Account; supervise/advise Cadet & Army bank account. Develop/implement policies/procedures related to the department's administrative operations. Requests repairs/services for building, university, equipment; maintain keys Train, instruct, supervise new military staff upon entry and with assigned projects; in process instruct new satellite Cadets; Direct, advise, supervise Cadet leaders. Assist in overseeing Gold Bar Recruiter. Receives quotes for events. Reconciles accordingly. Tracks detailed purchases on a monthly basis. Maintains spreadsheet for budget. Shares some expenses with Airforce and tracks accordingly. Maintain/update Army ROTC website and databases. Records minutes from staff meetings.
