About Oklahoma Pulmonary Care Oklahoma Pulmonary Care is a growing pulmonary practice in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma and Owasso, Oklahoma . Modern medical office setting Collaborative and supportive team On-the-job training Opportunities for professional growth Consistent weekday schedule Position Overview We are seeking a highly motivated, dependable and detail-oriented Medical Assistant / Front Office Team Member to join our growing practice. This is a cross-trained position that includes both clinical Medical Assistant responsibilities and front office/patient service duties . The ideal candidate is comfortable working directly with patients while also assisting with scheduling, phones, documentation and other administrative responsibilities when needed. This position works closely with our physician, advanced practice providers and other team members to ensure patients receive timely, efficient and compassionate care. Clinical Responsibilities Room patients and prepare them for examinations. Obtain and accurately document vital signs, medications, medical history and other pertinent information. Observe patients and promptly report abnormalities or changes in condition to the physicians and providers. Assist physicians and providers during examinations, treatments and procedures. Prepare laboratory specimens for processing and analysis. Accurately document patient information in the electronic medical record (EMR). Assist with obtaining and organizing medical records, test results and other clinical documentation. Communicate provider instructions and approved information to patients. Assist with patient telephone calls, messages and follow-up as directed by the provider. Help ensure testing, results and other patient-care tasks are completed and properly documented. Maintain clean, organized and properly stocked patient-care areas. Follow HIPAA, OSHA and established clinic policies and procedures. Front Office & Administrative Responsibilities Greet patients and visitors in a friendly and professional manner. Perform patient check-in and check-out accurately and efficiently. Schedule, confirm and coordinate patient appointments. Answer incoming telephone calls promptly and professionally. Route patient calls, messages and requests to the appropriate staff member or provider. Collect and verify patient demographic and insurance information. Verify insurance eligibility and benefits when necessary. Assist with referrals, medical records, incoming documentation and correspondence. Scan, upload and properly organize documents within the EMR. Communicate professionally with patients, referring offices, pharmacies, hospitals and other healthcare organizations. Maintain accurate and confidential patient records. Assist with filing, faxing, data entry and other administrative responsibilities. Work with clinical and administrative staff to maintain efficient patient flow throughout the day.
Qualifications Preferred qualifications include:
Previous experience as a Medical Assistant, Medical Receptionist or in another medical office position Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) certification BLS certification At least 1 year of experience obtaining and documenting vital signs At least 2 years of experience using an electronic medical record (EMR) system Experience with medical scheduling and insurance verification Knowledge of medical terminology Familiarity with ICD-10 and healthcare documentation Previous internal medicine, pulmonology or specialty-practice experience is a plus What We're Looking For The right candidate will be: Dependable and punctual Professional and compassionate Highly organized and detail-oriented Comfortable working in a fast-paced medical office Able to prioritize and manage multiple responsibilities An effective communicator with patients and coworkers Comfortable learning new systems and processes Able to work independently while also functioning as part of a team Willing to assist wherever needed to keep the practice running efficiently Because we are a small practice, teamwork and flexibility are essential . $16.00 - $18.00 per hour Expected hours: 40.0 per week
