Open Position:
Full-Time Assistant Section 8 Coordinator The Housing Authority of Indiana County (HAIC) is accepting applications for a qualified, dependable, and detail-oriented Assistant Section 8 Coordinator. This is a classified Pennsylvania State Civil Service position. Appointment to this position is subject to applicable Pennsylvania State Civil Service laws, rules, and regulations, including any required examinations or eligibility requirements. Position Summary The Assistant Section 8 Coordinator provides administrative and technical support to the Section 8 Coordinator in the day-to-day administration of the Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) Program. This position assists with participant eligibility, annual and interim reexaminations, income and asset verification, rent calculations, maintaining participant files, preparing required correspondence, and ensuring accurate program documentation. The Assistant Section 8 Coordinator performs assigned duties under the direction of the Section 8 Coordinator and assists in administering the Housing Choice Voucher Program in accordance with Housing Authority policies, HUD regulations, and all applicable federal, state, and local requirements. This position does not include supervisory responsibility over employees. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Assist the Section 8 Coordinator with the day-to-day administration of the Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) Program. Process annual and interim recertifications in accordance with HUD regulations and Housing Authority policies. Verify income, assets, family composition, and other eligibility requirements. Calculate tenant rent and housing assistance payments. Prepare correspondence, notices, reports, and other required program documentation. •Maintain accurate and organized participant files and records. Respond professionally to inquiries from applicants, participants, landlords, and the general public. Assist in maintaining compliance with HUD regulations, Housing Authority policies, Fair Housing requirements, and Housing Authority Administrative Plan requirements through accurate documentation and timely processing of required actions. Perform other administrative and program-related duties as assigned by the Section 8 Coordinator. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent required. An Associate's degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Human Services, or a related field is preferred. Three (3) years of experience performing administrative or program-related duties in subsidized housing, affordable housing, public housing, property management, social services, or a comparable field preferred. Two (2) years of experience as an Assistant Section 8 Coordinator, Assistant Property Manager, Management Aide, or in a comparable affordable housing or public service position preferred. Working knowledge of HUD regulations, the Housing Choice Voucher Program, and applicable federal housing requirements is preferred. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and other standard office software. Strong organizational, documentation, communication, and customer service skills. Ability to maintain confidentiality and work effectively with applicants, participants, landlords, and the public. Valid Pennsylvania driver's license required. Must successfully pass a drug screening, criminal background check, and child abuse clearances. Applicants must meet all applicable Pennsylvania State Civil Service eligibility requirements. The selected applicant will be required to have Civil Service approval within six months of hire.
