Dig Local Network Assistant Farmers Market Manager Event Planner and Administration Job Description Reports To:
The Dig Local Network Board of Directors , with the Lead Market Manager serving as the primary contact. In a Nutshell Seeking a well-organized, communicative, collaborative, strategic, self-starting, tech-savvy individual with a flexible, can-do attitude. Work will be in person on some Saturdays and Sundays with additional hybrid-work-from-home adminstrative tasks.

A Dig Local Assistant Market Manager must possess a skill set that will assist in: Driving shoppers and customers to the Beaches Green Market and Atlantic Beach Farmers Market through social media and advertising. Building relationships within the community to enhance lives and create a support system for the market within the community structure. This is a contract position .
Duties include:
Back-office administration Operational management of two outdoor farmers markets throughout the year Serve as a knowledgeable and welcoming representative of the organization, communicating its mission and goals to a diverse audience. The markets operate rain or shine and are held year-round:
Saturdays:
Jacksonville Beach Sundays:
Atlantic Beach Market Hours:
10:00 AM - 2:00
PM Set-Up Hours:
Begin at 8:00 AM and conclude between 2:30 PM and 3:00 PM Responsibilities and Duties of the Assistant Market ManagerMarket Operations Be physically present at farmers markets initially each week in a training capacity and then as needed. Be able to put up a tent and lift up to 20 lbs . Be willing to work outside during various temperatures and weather. Once fully trained, fill in when the Market Manager needs time off or is sick (notification will be given at least a few weeks in advance for planned time off and may require immediate fill-in during an emergency, though this has only happened once in the span of 5 years). Operate the
SNAP/EBT
table booth. Assist with the collection of vendor fees Support back-office vendor relationships, work with city partners, and other organizations in the community Vendor Relations Assist with vendor recruitment. Assist in identifying product needs in order to determine recruitment strategy(this will be collaborative with the Lead Market Manager Process vendor applications and learn legal requirements for vendors with the support of the lead manager. This includes collection of documents like insurance and liscenses. Communications & Administration Assist in managing the organization and market email inbox. Take scheduled shifts to respond to social media comments and inquiry Support with organization and special event planning Respond to inquiries from shoppers, garden applicants, PayPal inquiries, and vendors. Work in Google applications, WordPress webhosting web updates, and GoDaddy newsletter creation Research merchandise providers, order supplies, process print jobs, lamination, and other office tasks Dial in to regular partner calls (such as Fresh Access Bucks calls once quarterly). QualificationsEducation Minimum high school diploma or GED. Experience Two years of experience in an assistant managerial, event-planning, or administration Experience with Meta Business, Facebook, Instagram, Tik Tok, Google suites, WordPress, and GoDaddy Skills & Attributes Respectful of all people Highly organized self-starter. Upbeat and outgoing. Listens carefully. Strong communication skills. Creative thinking. Calm, effective problem-solving. Self-motivated. Ability to create special events that draw customers to the market and keep them coming back. Can-do attitude! Conclusion The goal of a farmers market is to provide a public meeting space where farmers and vendors can sell their products directly to consumers, offer a friendly environment with a diverse range of products, educate, and be a good neighbor within the community. Our nonprofit's mission is to bring better food to the community. Interest in storytelling, local food systems, growing food, wellness, grant writting, and regenerative agriculture is a plus.
