Job Description

Job Responsibilities Performs and directs daily administrative duties such as handling telephone calls/ messages from the public, receiving and sorting incoming correspondence and generating daily work request using Highway Maintenance Management System (HMMS) compiling data for reports as needed. Researches, processes personnel correspondence and prepares correspondence and reports expeditiously in a concise and professional manner; files and maintains tracking system of correspondence; responds to letters of a general nature that requires thorough knowledge of Department policies as requested by executive personnel. Coordinates and processes personel actions for the unit and serves as the central contact for personnel matters; interprets personnel policies and procedures. Operates the
SCDOT HMMS
computer system related to maintenance work such as daily work reports, work requests, the Adopt-A-Highway program, stockpile tables, and materials cost tables. Maintains SCDOT filing system. Assigns document numbers, physically filing each document. Serves as liaison for maintenance purchasing cards, monitoring credit card expenditures, and ensuring accurate receipts are on file for all purchases. Required to work 12 hour shifts during inclement weather/emergency conditions. Performs other related duties as assigned. Minimum and Additional Requirements A high school diploma and six (6) months of work experience that is directly related to the area of employment; or an approved acceptable equivalence. A valid motor vehicle operator's license is required. The physical demands for the essential functions includes sitting or standing at a desk for an extended periods and working on a computer. May be required to lift up to 30 lbs. May be required to work outside normal business hours.
