This is accomplished by greeting visitors; responding to calls and inquiries as the first point of contact; referring calls and visitors to the proper location; receiving and processing monies; maintaining data and information; , and receiving and distributing mail. Other duties include responding to requests; answering inquiries; researching information; and filing and maintaining documentation. Provides receptionist support to the assigned department by receiving and screening calls; providing answers and assistance to citizens; greeting and directing callers and visitors; receiving complaints and routing them to the appropriate person or department; and taking and delivering messages. Maintains required records and documents by entering and reviewing data; filing or processing documents, permits, rentals, or other information; and ensuring receipt. Processes mail by receiving and sorting correspondence; monitoring and processing postage; monitoring postage; and notifying or distributing mail to staff or departments. Reviews and maintains information by entering data and requests; reviewing information; researching and responding to inquiries and requests for documents; ensuring confidentiality; conferring with other staff or departments; and scheduling related calendar events. Processes payments by entering information and data; calculating bills; posting transactions; verifying monies received; balancing funds; and preparing bank deposits. High School graduation or equivalent Two years of experience in customer service Ability to effectively communicate, both verbally and in writing, with co-workers, the public, and elected and appointed officials Ability to count monies and process payments Skill in the operation and use of standard office software which includes databases and presentation programs, along with standard Microsoft products
