Job Description

Medical Assistant - Front Office FocusJob Summary Katy Medical Center is seeking an experienced and dependable Medical Assistant with strong front office experience to join our growing primary care team. This position requires a certified Medical Assistant who is comfortable supporting both clinical and administrative functions, with a significant focus on front office operations, patient scheduling, check-in/check-out, collecting copays and patient balances, and coordinating patient care. The ideal candidate has 5+ years of medical office/front office experience , preferably within a primary care or outpatient setting, and is confident managing a busy front desk while providing an excellent patient experience. Key Responsibilities Manage patient scheduling, including new and established patient appointments, follow-ups, procedures, and schedule changes Complete patient check-in and check-out accurately and efficiently Verify and update patient demographic and insurance information Collect copays, deductibles, outstanding patient balances, and other payments at the time of service Communicate professionally with patients regarding appointments, payments, referrals, and general clinic questions Answer and manage incoming patient calls, messages, and scheduling requests Coordinate patient flow between the front office, clinical team, and providers Assist with referrals, authorizations, records requests, and other patient coordination activities as needed Room patients, obtain vitals, and document medical histories Assist providers with examinations and minor procedures as needed Perform basic clinical tasks such as injections, EKGs, and specimen collection, as applicable Distribute sleep assessments during routine visits and ensure completion for provider review Maintain accurate and timely documentation within the electronic medical record Follow established clinic protocols and assist with workflow improvements and implementation of new processes Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA and clinic policies Provide professional, compassionate customer service to patients and team members Required Qualifications Medical Assistant certification (CMA, RMA, CCMA, or equivalent) — required Minimum of 5 years of medical front office/medical practice experience — required Demonstrated experience with patient scheduling, check-in/check-out, collecting copays and patient balances, and front desk operations Experience working within an EMR/practice management system Strong knowledge of medical office workflows and patient coordination Excellent communication, organization, and multitasking skills Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced medical office Professional, dependable, detail-oriented, and patient-focused Ability and willingness to support both front office and clinical MA responsibilities Preferred Experience Primary care or family medicine experience Insurance verification, referrals, and prior authorization experience Experience handling patient payments and account balances Sleep medicine or procedure-based clinic exposure Experience supporting workflow improvements or new process implementation Schedule Monday-Friday Compensation Competitive pay based on experience.
