Job Description

The German Armed Forces Command United States and Canada is seeking to fill, at the earliest possible date, the position of an "Administrative Assistant, Customs Affairs" at the Dulles, VA duty station. This is a 40 hours per week position.
Responsibilities:
Check, process and assess packing lists and freight documents with regard to completeness and specifics for customs clearance Prepare required customs documents and ensure timely submission to the competent customs offices Submit and review required data exchange with the responsible U.S. agencies and companies Prepare and implement export customs duty exemptions and file reports in the "U.S. Automated Export System" Identify and determine Foreign Military Sales (FMS) data referring to shipment and materiel as well as customs tariff numbers; record data Qualification requirements:

Successful completion of vocational training in the areas of logistics, freight handling, office communication, or similar, or several years of relevant work experience Business fluent in English and German, both spoken and written Proficiency with standard MS Office software products Valid U.S. work and residence permit Passing a security vetting as well as a background check Willingness to undergo training and professional development Ability to maintain confidentiality Compensation and benefits The terms of employment, employer-provided benefits as well as duties of the employee will be in accordance with the Employment Agreement and the Policies and Procedures Manual for Locally Employed Staff at Bundeswehr agencies in the United States. The starting salary in this position is $ 4,696.84 gross per month (German Entgeltgruppe 6 based on 40 hours/week). Employer-provided benefits include, among other things, group health insurance, paid holidays, sick leave and paid vacation. Interested personnel already employed with the Bundeswehr in the United States may inquire about the salary at Human Resources RP 2.
