Job Description

General office work involving filing, typing, computer entry and retrieval, use of various office machines, and assisting the public and other employees with information requests, and any other clerical duties as needed.
Duties:
A. Abide by the "Law Enforcement Code of Ethics." B. Receive in-coming telephone calls and places calls as required. C. Receives visitors, furnishing appropriate information or routing them to the proper place. D. Provide receipts for money received for service of civil process, using proper accounting procedures. E. Time stamp all in-coming documents and distribute. F. Process and enter all non-enforceable civil process into SmartCop and distribute for service. G. Separate civil process returns of service and forward to courts, attorneys, petitioners, and customers. H. Service non-enforceable process to walk-in customers for pick-up. I. Process outgoing mail and interoffice mail for pick-up, including maintenance of the postage meter. J. Maintain secure cashier drawer and office safe. K. Distribute electronic subpoenas received from State Attorney, Public Defender, Private Attorneys, and Clerk of Courts. L. Process livestock at large from Marion County Animal Control, prepare notice, ad for Ocala Star Banner and schedule sale. Close out sale and distribute proceeds to the Clerk's Office. M. Perform general office duties, including typing, filing, and so on. N. Be alert for conditions or situations which inhibit effective operation of the Agency or the Civil Division Office, and make recommendations for solutions. O. Perform other related duties, as assigned, including modified schedule or temporary re-assignment during declared emergency or activations, as determined by the Sheriff.
JOB PREREQUISITES
High School Diploma or GED At least three years general office skills experience Type at least 35 words per minute accurately Ability to follow instructions with minimal supervision Ability to work harmoniously with the public and agency personnel Ability to handle confidential matters without compromising confidentiality Ability to perform general office skills and organize own work Proficiency in reading, writing and speaking English Proficiency in grammar, spelling and punctuation Possession of a valid Florida driver's license
WORKING CONDITIONS
This position consists of a normal office environment. Perform tasks requiring bending, squatting, kneeling, lifting and carrying items up to 10 lbs. Normal business hours apply; however, hours are subject to vary and overtime may be necessary.

Physical and dexterity requirements: Most tasks require the ability to sit at a desk and view a display screen for extended periods of time, the ability to lift, carry, push or pull items up to ten (10) pounds, the ability to stand and walk for short periods of time, and the ability to bend and kneel.
Environmental hazards:
This job risks exposure to office related dust, fumes and odors, bright/dim light, and temperature variations.
