JOB About the PositionAs a Temporary Mail Clerk, you would assist in facilitating the election process by using the mail-opening machinery to ensure all mail is opened, moved, and processed.

Work With Us | Maricopa County, AZWe RequireThis position requires a high school diploma or GED.Other RequirementsMust be a registered voter or have the ability to become a registered voter in the State of Arizona by the time of hireMust pass an applicable background screeningMust be able to work overtime as necessaryWe Also ValueOne or more years of postal experienceOne or more years of warehouse experienceOne or more years of election experienceOne or more years of customer service experienceJob ContributionsRequires long periods of standing while utilizing electronic mail opening machinery to open ballots in bulk prior to pre-tabulation ballot processingPushes and pulls baker racks that weigh up to 150 pounds and postal cages weighing up to 250 pounds around the mail room, pre-tabulation processing staging area, or secured ballot vaultAssists with end-of-day clean-up and mail room organizationAssists other divisions of Elections with their daily functions and activitiesWorking ConditionsFull-time/Temporary/Overtime/Holiday hours are mandatory during the election cycleRequires the ability to review small fonts on hard copy, to stand for extended periods, and to walk on an inclined surfaceUpper extremity repetitive motion and the ability to pivot a minimum of up to 20 pounds are requiredRequires the ability to lift floor-to-shoulder and shoulder-to-waist a minimum of up to 20 pounds and carry up to 450 feet, to reach overhead and lift a minimum of up to 20 pounds, and to push/pull a minimum of up to 250 pounds for up to 450 feetRequires the ability to work in close proximity to othersDuties may be performed indoors or outdoors, including in high temperatures, and exposure to dust particles and loud noise may occurAll operations will be conducted under livestream cameras and in the presence of political observersMust not engage in any political discussion during the electionSelection ProcedureConsideration will only be given to candidates who submit online applicationsCandidates will be contacted primarily through email and their Workday online application profileMust pass a pre-employment background and/or fingerprint investigation as required by statute or policy, including drug and alcohol testing requirements for positions designated as safety-sensitive Maricopa County is an equal opportunity employer and is committed to providing equal employment opportunities to all applicants.
