Job Description
Posting Details Position Information Job Title Mail & Shipping Services Technician Posting Number S1722P Pay Range Compensation for this position is expected to range between $24.00 and $26.00 per hour , in alignment with what California Baptist University ( CBU ) reasonably anticipates paying for this role. The final rate may vary depending on the candidate's qualifications, experience, and prevailing market conditions. Position Summary Information Summary Receives and sorts all incoming mail, courier deliveries, interoffice correspondence, and packages. Prepares and processes all outgoing mail, courier shipments, and interoffice deliveries. Operates postage meter machines, weighing equipment, and department vehicles. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Receives and transports U.S. mail to and from the U.S. Postal Service on a time‑sensitive daily schedule. Sorts and delivers incoming mail, parcels, and related materials to University departments located in single‑ and multi‑level buildings on campus as well as off‑site locations. Collects, weighs, and prepares outgoing mail and parcels for domestic and international shipment, ensuring compliance with all applicable courier and postal regulations. Provides courteous, direct customer service, offering guidance on University postal policies, USPS regulations, and general mailing standards. Maintains accurate records for postage, certified mail, parcels, and all items requiring special handling. Assists with the pickup and secure destruction of classified materials across campus. Monitors and maintains inventory of postal supplies. Ensures compliance with current postal standards and regulations. Maintains clean, orderly, and safe work areas and ensures proper use and care of equipment and supplies. Safeguards metering equipment in accordance with USPS requirements and departmental security policies; ensures proper operation and maintenance of equipment; and promotes workplace safety. Assists with researching and updating student campus mailbox information. Maintains accurate records for business reply mail, postage‑due accounts, and package‑management software data. Conducts audits to verify proper logging and tracking of items within package‑management software. Supervisory Responsibilities This position may assign tasks and provide guidance to student workers to ensure successful completion of work assignments. Ability to accurately sort and process mail, parcels, and accountable items. Ability to operate, maintain, and troubleshoot electronic metering equipment. Proficiency in using personal computers and related software applications. Solid knowledge of business English, arithmetic, and general office methods, procedures, and practices. Ability to read and write at a level appropriate for the duties of the position. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with a diverse faculty, staff, and student population. Strong organizational skills and excellent attention to detail. Ability to resolve customer concerns and complaints professionally and with a service‑oriented approach.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, and sit; and requires sufficient hand, arm, and finger dexterity to operate computer keyboard or other office equipment. Requires visual acuity to read words and numbers; and speaking and hearing ability sufficient to communicate in person or over the phone. Work is generally performed in a standard indoor office or mailroom setting, where the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical equipment. The employee may also be occasionally exposed to outdoor weather conditions during certain job duties. Education and/or Experience High school diploma or general education degree ( GED ); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.REQUIRED CERTIFICATION / PERMITS
: Must obtain and maintain the following within ninety (90) days of hire as a condition of continued employment: a valid California Driver's License and a satisfactory driving record.
