ABOUT THE ROLE
We are looking for a dependable, detail-oriented Mail and Book Clerk to help prepare customer mailings and book orders accurately and on time. This hands-on role supports production by preparing mailing data, sorting and packaging mail, boxing books, and making local pickups and deliveries. The ideal candidate works efficiently, follows instructions carefully, and is comfortable driving a cargo van or 15-foot box truck.

WHAT YOU'LL DO
Prepare mailing lists by formatting, sorting, and entering order information Sort, bundle, strap, and record postcard orders Organize completed mail by shipping date and prepare boxes, pallets, postal cages, and labels Load and secure completed mail for transport to the post office Drive a company cargo van or 15-foot box truck for local pickups and deliveries Unload postal cages using an electric pallet jack Complete daily vehicle checklists and mileage logs and report service or damage concerns Fuel company vehicles and plug them in during winter weather Inspect, box, weigh, label, and organize book orders for delivery or freight pickup Help book freight, close shipments, research shipment questions, and assist with other duties as assigned
Requirements:
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
High school diploma or GED Valid driver's license with a clean driving record Ability to follow instructions and work accurately at a steady, efficient pace Basic proficiency with a Windows PC and data entry Flexibility and ability to adapt to changing production needs Commitment to Outreach's mission, vision, and core values Authorization to work and reside in the United States; Outreach does not sponsor work visas
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Previous mail services, shipping, warehouse, or fulfillment experience Familiarity with USPS mailing requirements Experience using an electric pallet jack
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS & WORK ENVIRONMENT
Regular standing, walking, bending, lifting, pushing, and working on concrete floors Ability to lift at least 50 pounds Ability to push rolling stock up to 2,500 pounds using appropriate equipment Daily use of mechanical equipment and tools Regular exposure to machinery noise on an open manufacturing floor Work in both climate-controlled and occasional non-climate-controlled areas Ability to manage periods of increased activity during busy production seasons
