$21/hr. Position Summary The Mailroom Clerk is responsible for the daily operation of the mailroom, including receiving, sorting, processing, and distributing mail and packages. This position requires extensive interaction with students, faculty, and staff while providing excellent customer service in a fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate is organized, detail-oriented, able to work under pressure, and capable of handling multiple priorities throughout the day. Key Responsibilities Receive, sort, and distribute incoming mail and packages in a timely manner. Process outgoing mail and shipments using various carriers and shipping methods. Provide exceptional customer service to students, faculty, staff, and visitors. Respond to inquiries regarding mail, package tracking, and delivery status. Maintain accurate records and documentation of mailroom activities. Operate office equipment, including computers, postage machines, scanners, and printers. Prepare reports, spreadsheets, and correspondence using Microsoft Office applications. Ensure mailroom organization, cleanliness, and compliance with established procedures. Assist with special projects and departmental tasks as assigned. Qualifications Required High school diploma or equivalent. Strong customer service and interpersonal skills. Ability to interact professionally with students, faculty, and staff. Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet deadlines. Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities. Typing speed of 30-40 words per minute minimum . Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite , including: Excel Word PowerPoint Outlook Ability to lift and move packages weighing up to 40 pounds . Strong attention to detail and organizational skills. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Preferred Experience working in a mailroom, shipping/receiving, or customer service environment. Knowledge of shipping and mailing software, including: FedEx Ship Manager UPS WorldShip Pitney Bowes systems Experience handling package tracking and shipment processing. Physical Requirements Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 40 pounds. Ability to stand, walk, bend, and reach for extended periods.
