Qualifications:
College hours, high school diploma or GED Successful work experience in a school setting or high-paced business environment Expertise in mail meter, fax machine, US Postal operations and regulations preferred Experience in word processing and spreadsheet applications Organized and self-motivated Excellent communication skills Must be able and comfortable lifting to 40 pounds occasionally Must be comfortable driving a company vehicle and retrieving mail items from various local postal offices
Primary Purpose:
Receive and distribute all postal and other hard copy mail for the Education Support Complex.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
Distribute incoming mail and prepare outgoing mail on established daily schedule. Receive, log and notify recipients regarding packages and certified mail. Process bulk mailings for district departments and campuses. Meter mail, prepare reports related to District mail, and answer questions regarding postal regulations. Ensure that postage meter and bulk mail postal accounts have sufficient funds for upcoming mailings, request postage meter funds as necessary. Coordinate use of mail room copy/fax machine, maintain supplies, and troubleshoot problems. Assist with implementation and monitoring of interoffice guidelines for Katy ISD employees. Analyze and recommend future growth needs affecting the mail room and interoffice operations. Research and remain educated on postal regulations and draft communications as a District resource. Assist with the development, implementation and monitoring of tracking procedures for packages and deliveries to ensure accountability. Understand and maintain a high level of confidentiality regarding the handling and distribution of District mail. Provide assistance on special projects requiring clerical tasks. Other duties as assigned.
Equipment Used:
Postage meter, personal computer, printer, fax machine.
Working Conditions:
Work with frequent interruptions, moderate lifting, stooping, bending, stretching and repetitive arms/hand motions as required to process mail and incoming packages. Frequent sitting and standing.
