INTRODUCTION
Active DoD Secret Government Clearance is Required This is a temporary position expected to last from Dec. 2026 to Feb. 2027 This position is located in Arlington, VA at the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) The work hours are 7:30am to 4:30pm The hourly rate is $39.79 per hour Pre-employment background checks and drug testing are required
QUALIFICATIONS
Active DoD Secret Clearance is Required Bachelor's degree and/or minimum of three (3) years' specialized experience in the Federal, DoD, and/or commercial mail handling experience required Must possess strong customer service skills Responsible for the overall operation of mail room/loading dock facilities and other mail related functions Serves as the backup for the Supply Center Lead as needed and therefore should have an understanding of how the supply center operates. Must be able to lift 65 pounds DoD related mail handling experience required Federal Government Experience required DoD experience preferred Secret clearance required.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsible for loading, unloading and removing bulk mail and performing other duties incidental to the movement and processing of mail for the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) Lead and supervise the Mailroom team by setting the example, disseminating and prioritizing work tasks Ensure the team complies with MSO/FLD customer service standards and

mail and security policies and procedures. Comply with US Postal Service (USPS) and Military Postal System rules and requirements for handling and safeguarding mail and postal materials Ensure that personnel are properly trained and equipped to conduct inspections of letter mail, envelopes and packages and what appropriate actions should be taken if a hazard is discovered. Ensure all incoming mail and packages is screened using AUTO-CLEAR and Dual Draw Ensure outgoing letters and parcels are collected and sent out in a timely manner Ensure customer signatures for incoming registered, certified, and insured mail are collected for those letters and parcels requiring them Ensure proper distribution of incoming mail from USPS and package delivery firms throughout the building. Ensure express, registered, and certified mail are delivered to the US Post Office Ensure outgoing official mail items have the correct postage and that packages/letters are in proper condition for mailing. Train Mailroom staff to be able to answer customer questions regarding mail regulations and procedures, apply appropriate postage rates, and provide approximate delivery times Receive, distribute, and courier materials between DARPA and the Pentagon Coordinate with Pentagon point of contact to ensure burn bags are picked up every week Coordinate with the shred bin vendor to ensure bin contents are shredded onsite twice a month Maintain USPS, Federal Express, United Parcel Service and shred bin accounts for DARPA Keep detailed records, both hard and soft copies, of all FedEx and USPS packages processed out of DARPA Validate all FedEx bills before government payment with the Government Purchase Card (GPC) Coordinate with the Chief, FMSS and DARPA Technology offices for the shipment or prototypes, and other material or supplies from and between offsite locations Supervise the ordering of items needed to restock the mailroom with paper and other required supplies Education Preferred Bachelors or better Equal Opportunity Employer/Protected Veterans/Individuals with Disabilities This employer is required to notify all applicants of their rights pursuant to federal employment laws.
