About This Route Duties and Responsibilities USPS Contract Mail Carriers deliver mail to homes and businesses in rural areas across the nation. They travel on planned routes, deliver mail and parcels, obtain signatures, and collect outgoing mail along the way. Delivery occurs regardless of the weather, although schedules may be delayed.
