JOB TITLE

S (240 days)
REPORTS TO
Superintendent
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
Salary and benefits shall be paid consistent with the system's approved compensation plan. Length of the work year and hours of employment shall be those established by the system.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma or equivalent. Two (2) years of secretarial or receptionist experience preferred. Bilingual Skills preferred (e.g. English/Spanish or other languages common in the school district) Must meet background clearance requirements as specified by Alabama statutes and State Board of Education regulations.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Greet and assist visitors, parents, staff, and community members in a professional and welcoming manner. Receive incoming telephone calls and transfer to the proper person. Take messages for personnel who are away from their desks. Provide general information regarding school system policies, procedures, and departments. Manage front desk operations, ensuring a secure and organized reception area. Receive, sort, log, and distribute incoming mail and deliveries. Maintain visitor check-in procedures in accordance with district safety protocols. Assist with clerical duties such as data entry, filing, copying, and document preparation. Support Board of Education meetings and district events. Maintain and update records using district systems and Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Gmail, Calendar, Drive). Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information in accordance with school system policies and applicable laws. Model and maintain high ethical standards. Demonstrate initiative in the performance of assigned responsibilities. Participate successfully in the training programs offered to increase skill and proficiency related to the assignment. Participate in cross-training activities as required. Keep supervisor informed of potential problems or unusual events. Respond to inquiries and concerns in a timely manner Take leave time in accordance with Board policy and report all absences in a timely manner. Assume other reasonable and equitable job-related duties assigned.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Considerable knowledge of the operations and functions of the school system. Proficiency in Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Gmail, Calendar, Drive). Ability to organize and maintain accurate records. Ability to learn district-specific software and communication systems Strong organizational skills and attention to detail Ability to multitask and manage time effectively in a busy office environment Professional demeanor and ability to handle sensitive situations with discretion Dependability, punctuality, and a collaborative team-oriented mindset
EVALUATION
Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with the provisions of the Board's policy on evaluation of personnel.
